Happy Holidays to everyone, (again, assuming anyone’s reading this….) —
Since it is the time when the days begin to get longer, and the darkness begins to recede, (at least in the solar sense, anyhow…), I’m trying to focus on hope.
But first — I wanted to share “Miss Democracy’s Christmas Eve Scandal Sheet” — from The 50501 Movement.
If you don’t want to read the entire recounting of the continuing awfulness of the Trump/MAGA Regime, (and these are just the last week or so), then skip down to the last paragraph, and ask yourself those questions — “Are these our values? Is this who we wish to be?”
Likewise, in the spirit of this holiday, (and especially because of the defining, foundational perversion of Christianity coursing as the lifeblood of the MAGA/TPUSA mob), I also want to share Neal Gabler’s piece this morning: “Farewell 2025…And Good Riddance”.
In it he recounts our “annus horribilus” under the thumb of the Trump regime, while illuminating the embers of hope that have begun to appear.
I am particularly moved, again, by his quoting of Matthew 25: 35-45.
If you are a Christian, (or just a decent human), then the words of Christ here should be the moral guide, the non-negotiable, bright light that leads your way. It should be the foundation upon which all of our actions are based.
Christ said: ““Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”
And —
“Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.”
As Indivisible Northfield moves into the next year, we will be examining what we can do, how we can help and who (and how) we can serve to protect and support our neighbors and our democracy.
I’ll post more thoughts on that as we move forward, but for now, Happy Holidays Everyone! Enjoy your time together, savor your loved ones and find the good things in your life to celebrate!
Peace out!
Steve
as a PS, Rachel Maddow’s message of hope: “It’s getting brighter everyday now…”
(it’s actually the tail end of the full segment, HERE.)
