Happy post-April Fools Day!
I think the biggest (lie) joke of the day, and the most infuriating, yesterday was the “address” given by 47 last night. Once again, the wanna-be king, the oligarch-in-charge, the baby-Cheeto-TACO-dictator has proven that he (and MAGA) is the greatest threat to our country, (and our planet).
We must not back down.
Anyway, enough of that.
Again, I want to thank EVERYONE who came out to No Kings 3!
My special THANKS to those who came, and brought percussion, to the initial Northfield Drum Circle!
I do want to do that again! Looking ahead to May Day! (and let me know if you want to get something going before that!!!)
A friend of mine said it sometimes feels like this work is like the old joke:
“…sort of like peeing yourself while wearing dark pants. You get a warm feeling, but no one really notices.”
While that may be true on the immediate level, on the national (and even global) level, it matters.
A lot.
Time and again, I see the regime flinch when we gather in strength against their cruelty, their chaos, and their corruption.
WE, the people, have the power.
WE, the people, have done more to slow down, and even stop, the regimes attempts to crush us than the courts, academia, corporations, and our legislators.
So people do take notice.
Because there’s a lot of us.
And it does matter every time we stand up and shout our opposition.
It is the constancy of every voice being raised, until it is impossible to ignore.
It is the solid mass of us standing firm in the face of state-sponsred terrorism, of the looting of our national treasury, of the destruction of our rights and the lives of so many.
It cannot be ignored.
This is how we fight back. Every opportunity we can seize. Every day we can keep punching away at their lies.
We will keep showing up until they are defeated, and we, the people, retake our government, and the inalienable rights this country was founded on.
