January 6th. J6. 5 years later, and this cold, wet, gray day in January, the weather seems appropriate to the place we stand in history.
We know, intellectually, that the days are getting longer now. The light is returning.
We know that the Trump Regime is getting less popular, more cornered, and collapsing each day.
We also know that there are months to go before spring.
And there is nearly a year before the next election.
We know the storms and floods of spring can destroy us.
We also know that these cornered socio-(and psycho)-paths will be ever more desperate to hang on to their power, (and stay out of jail).
The people have the power of nature behind us. We are persistent. We will force out ICE with our solidarity and our resolve. We, the people, are as unstoppable as nature.
And we know that, even when spring, then summer, then autumn come, there inevitably will bring another winter.
Fascism and authoritarianism won’t go away when we thaw. It will rise again, and we will be ready for it.
Looking ahead towards the new year, towards what may be the most decisive year of our lives, we are ready to rally. To clearly articulate and take action. To plan for what lies ahead in the fight, and to sharply see the world we want to build.
This is our time. Now is when we must act.
